The Kungsleden
The Kungsleden is a 460km trail that runs south from Abisko in the north of Sweden, through the arctic circle, all the way to Hemavan. There are lakes to cross by boat, vast mountain ranges such as Sarek, and endless horizons of forest, rivers and hills. The lands are boundaryless and home to bears, wolves, lynx and wolverines, and it is said to be one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe. Abbie walked this trail solo in early autumn 2023 and simply cannot wait to share the film with you!
This film will be edited at the end of the summer season.
In July 2023 Abbie headed out with Adventure Base to summit Grand Paradiso, the highest mountain in Italy, and Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. Despite weathering numerous challenges, this trip proved to be an adventure of a lifetime.
The Haute Route
The Haute Route runs for 221 km (137 miles) from Chamonix to Zermatt through the French and Swiss Alps. I set out on the trail in July expecting to take 13 days, however 4 days into the hike I endured an unexpected ending.
This film will be edited at the end of the summer season.
Alta Via 1
The Alta Via 1 is an epic 150km high level route through the eastern Dolomites. The trail begins at Pragser Wildsee, near Toblach, and ends in Belluno. In July I walked the route in 8 days, utilising refugios along the way.
This film will be edited at the end of the summer season.
Snowdonia Way
The Snowdonia Way is a 97 mi long-distance footpath in Snowdonia. Although it utilises mainly lower-level paths, the trail offers immense beauty and is a fantastic way to experience the beauty of the valleys surrounding Mount Snowdon itself.
This film will be edited at the end of the summer season.
Although not an official way-marked route, the Skye Trail travels for 80 miles from the north to the south of the Isle of Skye. It passes many iconic and recognisable landscapes such as the Trotternish Ridge and the Cuillin. There are remarkable but almost unvisited coastal cliffs, steep trails above high drops, and the haunting ruins of deserted villages destroyed in the Highland Clearances. I walked the route in May, wild camping across 7 days.
Officially opened in 2015, the Affric Kintail Way runs from Drumnadrochit on the shores of Loch Ness to Morvich in Kintail. I walked the route in April, two days after a snowstorm had ripped through the surrounding hills, thus making for a scenic adventure!
Iceland Winter Photography Trip
In February 2023 I headed out for a family trip to the north of Iceland, taking the time to capture images of humpback whales, epic waterfalls, and of course, the aurora borealis along the way. This was a fantastic opportunity to hone my photography skills in a mixture of settings and sceneries.
Gear Reviews
A huge part of what I aim to do within WILD is to educate and empower. By shooting gear reviews that are authentic and honest I seek to debunk the trends and myths surrounding outdoors kit, reminding viewers that getting outside does not have to be overly complicated by expensive and shiney kit. Check out my channel for various review playlists, from backpacks to tents, jackets to boots.
I believe that playing an instrument and creating music is a fantastic way to express emotions and connect with the lands around us. For me, the handpan is my go-to tool of expression and this year I have taken the leap of sharing my musical story on YouTube.
I love making tips and advice videos as these are a brilliant way to arm viewers with practical ideas on how to get outside and active whatever their life circumstances. From picking hiking kit to building mental resilience, I aim to cover a broad spectrum of topics and actively engage with my audience to keep support relevant and up-to-date.
This year I have worked hard to evolve my SCUBA skills, completing my Advanced PADI, with dry suit and wreck diving courses alongside. I have since been accumulating dives in quarries and the Mediterranean with the goal of taking on my Rescue Diver qualification early next year.
