Abbie Bikes Britain
2000 miles | 15 National Parks | A mission to create lasting change
What is Abbie Bikes Britain?
On the 30th August 2021 Abbie Barnes will begin an epic cycle across the country via each of the UK's 15 National Parks and their highest summits. This 2000 mile journey will take around 55 days and push her to the limits of her mental and physical endurance.

Because our green spaces need protecting, community saves lives, our mental health matters and our stories deserve space!
Mental health issues are on the rise. According to MIND, before the pandemic hit 1 in 4 people would experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England. However, 2020 stats released by the Mental Health Foundation show that at its peak 1 in 2 of us were struggling with our mental health on a weekly basis.
And the number one activity we have turned to is walking and spending time outside. This is proof that access to green spaces and natural places is fundamental to managing the current mental health crisis we find ourselves in.
By travelling the length and breadth of the country we are aiming to create a National campaign that initiates meaningful conversations about the importance of getting outside into green spaces for the benefit of mental and physical health, and what we can all do to protect them.
We want to not only see people access our nations green spaces for their wellbeing, but to step up to playing an active role in conserving them too. Why? Because being kind and getting involved in something bigger than ourselves can help to increase feelings of happiness, wellbeing, and life satisfaction for people of all ages.
The Film Series
Abbie and her team will be shooting a 5 part series following their journey, containing all of the highs and lows (literally and emotionally), and stories of people we meet along the way.
Additionally we will be talking with smaller mental health charities and organisations as we go to hear about the amazing work they are doing within communities across the country.
Episodes will be shared on YouTube for anyone to watch.
Support or Sponsor
Although this is a budget expedition, we have a lot of money to raise to see us through from launch to film release, with the greatest costs being food, fuel, van hire, accommodation, and post production. Any support you can offer towards our project would be so gratefully received.
Additionally, we are looking to partner with businesses of all shapes and sizes, especially those who's values align with ours. So whether you're a cycling store, environmental organisation, flower shop, or something completely different, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
