About The Event
Walk description:
Our walk will begin at Station Road Car Park in the wonderfully characterful village of Callander. Leaving the car park, we will head through the back streets of town to reach the woodland that frames the north of the town.
From here, we will pick up a muddier trail guiding us through the surrounding woodland. Here the route becomes steeper and rockier but the ascent is a great opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity of the forest. The area is rich with pine and birch trees, which provide a peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity for us to discuss the power of shinrin yoku - forest bathing. We might even see a red squirrel if we are really lucky!
With the steep climb behind us, the summit of Callander Crags will reward us with breathtaking views across the Trossachs National Park. This vantage point offers panoramic sights of Ben Ledi and the rolling hills to the north. Should the weather be clear, we will take our time here to soak up the scenery.
From the Crags, we will turn north east and begin our descent by following the trail downhill. The path narrows slightly and will likely be muddy and slippery. Walking poles will be a good idea to use here!
Picking up a minor road, we will follow for a mile until we cut east back into the woodland and turn south towards Bracklin Falls.
Bracken Falls is a serene and picturesque waterfall with an impressive iron bridge spanning the water itself, known as Brackland Glen. It’s an ideal spot to pause, relax, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. This can feel like quite an exposed area for some, so please be aware that there are steep cliff edges dropping down to the water!
To complete our walk, we will head along a well maintained path to Bracklin Falls car park and then cut south back to Callander and Station Road Car Park. Should there be a cafe open, we will head out for coffee and cake to wrap up our day.
Whether you attend alone or with friends/family, you'll soon get to know everyone in the group and enjoy a stress-free day.
Places are always limited on our walks, so do book on as soon as you can!
We need a minimum of 5 attendees for this walk to go ahead.
