Snowdon Sunrise Walk | Llanberis Path Hike

Short Walk description:

Join us on our sunrise walk up Snowdon, at 1,085m the highest peak in Wales!

Gathering at the Llanberis Pay and Display car park in the dark, we will do a final kit check to ensure everyone has enough warm layers, food and water, before beginning our climb up Snowdon via the Llanberis Path. This route is the longest and most gradual of the six main paths to the summit of Snowdon, and offers fantastic views of Cwm Brwynog, Llanberis and over the Menai straits towards Anglesey (on the way up it will be dark... so more likely the views will be visible during our descent!)

The path mainly follows the Snowdon Mountain Railway track, and goes by Hebron, Halfway and Clogwyn stations. Before the railway was opened in 1896, visitors employed guides to lead them to the summit along this path on mule-back. A remarkable geological feature can be seen from the Llanberis path, the Clogwyn Du’r Arddu syncline. The syncline was formed over thousands of years, as the earth moved and transformed horizontal deposits into vertical layers of rock.

We will reach the summit for sunrise, which no doubt will be an incredible and awe-inspiring moment, should the weather be on our side. Then we will begin our descent off the mountain via the same route.

As with all WILD events, this walk needs a minimum of 5 bookings to take place. 

Walk length: 9 miles (around 6hrs)

Date and time: Saturday 10th September 2022 at 3am (walk meet time around 2:50am). Sunrise will be around around 6:40am.

Weather:

Our walks are weather dependant. The weather can play a major role in our enjoyment of a day's walking and in some cases can present a real danger. We always review the weather forecast in detail the day before and will send you an email and text if we have to change any plans. This is however only likely if we feel heading out will put us at real risk. Please check the forecast for yourself and come prepared for whatever the weather! You should come fully kitted out for a full day's hike in the walking area.

Food and Drink:

We will not be providing any food or drink on this walk except emergency rations. Please ensure you have adequate food and drink for the day. If you have any questions or need any help/advice with what food to bring, please feel able to get in touch.

Cancellations:

By Us: In the rare case that we have to cancel an event, you will be notified by email and offered a full refund.

By You: We require 14 days cancellation notice prior to your scheduled arrival, otherwise we will charge you cancellation fee as below.

- 50% of your total amount will be charged if you notify us about your cancellation or any changes by 14 days to 48 hrs before your scheduled arrival.

-100% of your total amount will be charged if you do not notify us about your cancellation or any changes within 48 hrs.
