The Mendip Hills are an iconic limestone landscape home to Cheddar Gorge with its world-renowned caves and cliffs. This 8 mile circular walk offers the chance to explore this dramatic region and get up close and personal with the hills and valleys that host a myriad of myths and legends.

Walk Description:
Beginning at Cliff Street car park in Cheddar we will head along the main street past bustling store fronts and cafes to pick up our footpath heading north west. This path is likely to feel like a bit of a shock as it heads steeply almost 200 metres upwards with very little warning, passing Lion Rock along the way. This path is also often muddy and slippery in the winter months, hence why we are going up it and not down! Please be prepared for this ascent with sticks and good footwear.
Having survived this initiation to our route, things thankfully mellow out as we leave the West Mendip Way in favour of a smaller path heading north east across farmland to the Gruffy Nature Reserve and a small lane below Beacon Batch.
